Christmas Present Ideas?
I have a big family and it's always a struggle to know what exactly to get everyone. I don't have a lot of extra time to go shopping so I'm the one who is running around the last few days before Christmas with that panicked look in my eyes! Eeek!
So, if you've found that perfect gift for someone, or have some great ideas, how about you list it here so we can all pool our resources together.
A few things I have purchased so far (we're a musical family) are...drumsticks that light up for my 12 year old nephew (who is going to be the world's greatest drummer
) and these t-shirts that are pretty cool. They have a playable guitar, drumpad, a loudspeaker that plays your ipod/different sound effects and one that has a sound sensitive graphic equalizer on the front of it. For my mom, I got her a docking station for her iphone because she's recently discovered Pandora and can play all her favorite oldies! I never know what to get my dad! Usually something tech-y.
I already got a gift from my brother. He's a professional photographer and he gave me some of his original prints in frames for my office. I think those are going to be my favorite present this year. They're beautiful!
Anyway, so many of you are creative, I'd love to hear any ideas from you!

People, for the most part, always like getting Christmas baked goods! I did that for a couple years....and the family loved it!....although it was hard work!

Re: Christmas Present Ideas?
I can't give you too many hints for this year, but for next year, I keep my eyes open all year long. I remember one year I grabbed 3 copies of the 10th anniversary edition of Boondock Saints in February for a song knowing they would be gifts. I listen to what they like and want all year, not just in December, especially those complaints about this getting wrecked or not being able to find that and it must have been lost in that last move. I make buying just the right present a bit of a thing, it's definitely giving rather than receiving for me. If you can get something you buy every year, that's also good. My mother loves a certain scent that's only available in candles and such at Christmas, so I was getting that for her for years (my dad just admitted he now can't stand it), I also go to a Holly Cole concert every year with my sister and brother-in law - I pay and they drive - and that's an easy gift too. This year I managed to get us seats in the second row of the orchestra pit! Sometimes family members will already know what they're getting someone but also know something else they'd like, that's good too.
And then, of course, sometimes you can buy a huge gift and just coast for a few years. After my brother did me a few favours, I spent a great deal of time and money getting all the Harry Dresden series for him in hardcover since he originally bought them in paperback before he discovered he liked them so much. I've informed him he won't be getting any extravagant Christmas gifts or ANY birthday gifts for at least five years, but he considers it well worth it. And this year he's getting a flask that only my brother knew he wanted - and my brother knew he was going to get him something else already.
I can't wait to see his face when he opens it,

Re: Christmas Present Ideas?
I totally understand that it's problematic to find the right presents. I like to give tickets to events as a present, such as concert and theatre tickets are always a hit, but you have to know the taste of the person. My granny got christmas gift baskets and my mother got a voucher for some spa! :)
I personally prefer to make wish lists for my family. Then nothing can go wrong.
